According to this article Black Dog Syndrome (or BDS), may soon become a thing of the past. Jan McHugh-Smith, president of the San Francisco SPCA says a study of 380,000 dog adoptions showed little difference between black-dog adoption and all other coat types. The "little difference" adds up to an approximate one-day delay. The new trend does not transfer to black cats, however, with the ratio at the San Francisco SPCA equaling three cats to every dog.
