Poe's 200th Birthday
If Edgar Allen Poe were still alive, what poem would he read to celebrate his 200th birthday? One could argue it would be his infamous "The Black Cat," a story with a theme that still resonates today. Poe is buried in Baltimore, Maryland, something that the students of nearby Westminster West Middle School acknowledged as they celebrated his birthday with poetry readings and art. Which work of Poe's is their favorite? According to the language arts teacher, "The Black Cat" is popular with many students.

My black cat, Luca (ex Ridley) a Battersea Cats & Dogs home rescue! Even though I am Italian by birth I do not believe the nonsense that black cats bring you bad luck (they sometimes kill black cats in Italy).
