Black Cat Overstock

Sable-furred guests of the Toledo, Ohio Humane Society consider their accommodations a bit crowded, and shelter staff agrees. The solution? A black cat "sale", with prices discounted 50%. Staff workers hope to place all 60 black cats in good homes during the promotion, and attribute the "overstock" to a lack of interest in black coats. Do they think superstition plays a role? Maybe. The shelter approves the adoption of black cats year round, despite the common practice of other shelters to pause adoption during the month of October. The article includes a video.

I'm always surprised when I hear that black cats sometimes have a harder time getting adopted. They'd have no trouble finding homes if I had the money and space! I find them irresistible! It's also nice to come here and see my own black beauties showing up on the Flickr set at the top of the page!
