In just the past few days, cat-in-tree dramas unfolded in Georgia, Maine, and even China. Contrary to common perception, fire departments will not usually risk personnel in a cat-in-tree rescue. Most firefighters will tell you the cat often climbs down on its own when it becomes hungry. No other story exemplifies what not to do than this sad incident that occurred recently in California.
