When College Park, Maryland resident Pam Townsend recognized the plight of black dogs in shelters, she decided to help. Black dogs face the same hurdles to adoption as black cats - both are passed over in favor of other coat colors. Pam wrote a self-published book touting the beauty of black coats, and the proceeds go to the SPCA/Humane Society of Prince George County. You can purchase it here.
