A (Nearly) Priceless Black Cat


The purchase of this Picasso painting, Dora Maar with a black cat, surprised Sotheby's auctioneers in more ways than one. The buyer was a "mysterious" man who went unnoticed until his spending warranted attention. His manner was more anxious than the typical Sotheby's auction-goer, indicating inexperience.
